Yolanda Kennedy Gavin

Hi, my name is Yolanda. I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a member of IACP (the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

From my experiences as a therapy client and as a therapist, I understand how important it is to create a space that is warm and safe, so that you can feel more comfortable figuring out what’s troubling you and unpacking your feelings, thoughts and experiences.

I love supporting people on their journey to better understand themselves and the root of their present difficulties. Often through this process, clients discover who they are beyond who they have learned to be through their life experiences and environment. We can work together to make meaning of your experiences, integrate them and find ways to grow from them, using your own unique strengths and resources. We can also work together on helping you manage the issues and feelings you are struggling with right now.

I will work collaboratively with you using various therapeutic approaches such as humanistic, CBT, narrative, attachment theory and creative techniques, based on what you need and prefer.

I have worked with people who are experiencing anxiety; depression; trauma; feeling lost, disconnected or stuck; family challenges; difficulties with their parents; relationship difficulties; abuse; attachment difficulties; low self-esteem; self-criticism; grief and loss; stress; adult children of alcoholics; and life transitions.

I previously worked for over twenty years as a communications professional, supporting vulnerable and multicultural populations to articulate their often-challenging personal stories.
