Andrew works with both individuals and couples to help them then work towards understanding and achieving their goals, whatever they may be. Andrew aims to offer clients a supportive environment on their unique therapeutic journeys. He believes it is important to create a safe space for clients so they can tell him their stories.
Andrew tailors his approach to best suit his clients' needs and goals, working within a friendly, collaborative and integrative framework. His approach draws from the following therapy types: humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioural, existentialist, narrative therapy, Attachment Theory, couples coaching, such as emotion-focused, Gottman, and Relational Life Therapy, along with Family System Theory informed approaches, with the aim of getting to the heart of the matter. Don't worry if some of these terms are unfamiliar; these approaches are evidence-based and backed by research.
Throughout the therapeutic process, the aim is always to put the needs of the client at the forefront, while following ethical guidance to ensure the promotion of the client's well-being at all times.
He has worked with clients who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss & bereavement, as well as with those who have come through life-changing events, those who are feeling lost, and those facing work, family & relationship challenges. Andrew also works with attachment injuries, people with low self-esteem, negative self-criticism, self-image challenges, and with adult children of alcoholics, and those experiencing life's transitions—those big moments.
Andrew is a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist with a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a member of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (APCP). Andrew is also currently undertaking a Masters in Family Therapy. Andrew is professionally certified in the following areas: the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, Psychology, Child Psychology, Human Growth & Development, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Life Coaching, Mediation, Conflict Management, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Counselling, Community Addiction Studies, Criminology, Communications, and Applied Social Studies. Andrew also has a Diploma in Clinical Logotherapy (an existentialist approach).
