Andrew Thorn

Andrew is a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist with a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a member of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (APCP).

He believes it is important to create a safe space for clients so they can tell him their stories. Together, you can then work towards understanding and achieving your goals, whatever they may be. Andrew aims to offer clients a supportive environment on their unique therapeutic journeys.

Andrew tailors his approach to best suit his clients' needs and goals, working within a collaborative and integrative framework. His approach draws from the following therapy types: humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioural, existentialist, emotion-focused, narrative, Attachment Theory, and System Theory-based approaches, with the aim of getting to the heart of the matter. Don't worry if some of these terms are unfamiliar; these approaches are evidence-based and backed by research. Throughout the therapeutic process, his aim is always to put the needs of the client at the forefront, while following the APCP's ethical guidance to ensure the promotion of the client's well-being at all times.

He has worked with individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss & bereavement, as well as with individuals who have come through life-changing events, those who are feeling lost, and those facing work, family & relationship challenges. I also work with attachment injuries, people with low self-esteem, negative self-criticism, and self-image challenges, and with adult children of alcoholics, and those experiencing life's transitions—those big moments.

Andrew is also professionally certified in the following areas: the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, Psychology, Child Psychology, Human Growth & Development, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Life Coaching, Mediation, Conflict Management, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Counselling, Community Addiction Studies, Criminology, Communications, and Applied Social Studies. I also have a Diploma in Clinical Logotherapy (an existentialist approach).
